A: No. Many of our agents are from the industry, but many are not. You only need to learn a few basic concepts and the basic terminology to present our service convincingly, and we'll give you all the training you need. Experts sometimes get too caught up in the details of the energy market and lose focus on our core benefit, which is saving the customers money.
You'll need to understand where opportunities lie in the states where you operate (click here for a state-by-state breakdown), and have a familiarity with the providers who supply electricity and natural gas to your customers. We'll take care of the rest.
A: You'll be amazed. A lot of people have made very bad choices. Contact us and we'll give you some examples.
The energy market is like the hospitality and airline industry. Just as adjacent rooms or adjacent seats may sell for widely differing prices, energy plans in the same market segment also vary widely. You've got to know what to look for to find the best price and not get stuck with the worst one.
A: They may not even know which energy plan works best for them, in which case no price will be the best price. Energy providers give better pricing to their largest users, and AUS represents thousands of users, so we get the best offers. And AUS understands the difference between a price that LOOKS LIKE the best one and a price that really is. Most consumers don't stand a chance on their own.
A: Wide open. This is still a fairly new service, so most people don't know it exists. If you're willing to do the legwork, you're going to find a world of opportunities.
A: Click here to have a look. Chances are, wherever you currently work, you've got customers who are in our zone.
A: Anyone who uses energy. Which means anyone. You may find that some customers are locked into contracts now, but they won't be locked in forever.
A: While much of our initial business was with smaller energy consumers, we are looking to broaden our presence in large industries, municipalities and high-density residential. These sectors are easiest to reach through agents with existing contacts. The bigger the energy use, the bigger the savings. The bigger the savings, the bigger the commission. The math is pretty simple.
A: It's all about savings. You're always looking to offer your customer the best product at the best price. When you represent AUS, you're also offering them the best price on a product that everyone has to use. And you're offering a service where the end result is more money in their pocket. That's a pretty good fit with anything.
A: Whether you're in favor or against, energy deregulation is a realty in most states. What's important is to get our customers the best price available in their market. We'll leave energy policy to the politicians.
A: Remarkable easy. Customers need only sign an agreement (it's no-risk, no-cost) and send us some old bills. AUS handles everything from there.
A: With an expense as important as energy, customers naturally tend to be conservative and risk-averse about making changes. There is also a lot of misinformation about the energy market; you'll find you have to correct misconceptions. And people resist admitting they don't have the capability to handle such an important expense without outside help. That's where your sales skills will play a vital role.
We have found that a face-to-face agent relationship, especially with agents who have served the customer well in the past, is the most effective way to get customers out of conservative mode and into cost-cutting mode.
A: They vary widely. Some energy contracts are month to month. Some are as long as five years. Many allow for renegotiation if prices change dramatically over the term of the contract. AUS recommends the contract that best suits the customer.
A: Plenty. Beyond energy procurement, we also offer a full energy management plan, as well as entry into green energy. We still have a strong vested interest in our original focus, on-site energy generation. AUS also has taken our energy procurement process and established relationships in other service areas: telecom, credit card processing, etc. Ask us about the full range of AUS capabilities when you contact us.
